Boseman’s Death from Colon Cancer Part of Larger Trend, Says Inova’s Dr. Tim Cannon

A Good Morning America segment on the recent death from colon cancer of Hollywood actor Chadwick Boseman featured an interview with Inova’s Dr. Timothy Cannon of the Inova Schar Cancer Institute.

Dr. Cannon noted that while overall colon cancer numbers are declining, it has been appearing more frequently in men under the age of 50 (Boseman was 43); it also disproportionately affects African-American men.

“Access to screening and access to care is one issue that’s preventable,” said Dr. Canon.
