Fairfax, VA — Inova today celebrated the grand opening of its first Inova Cares pediatric sick clinic located at 6400 Arlington Boulevard, Falls Church.

Co-located with the Falls Church Inova Cares Clinic for Children (ICCC) primary care practice, this new pediatric sick clinic prioritizes access for children whose medical home is the Falls Church ICCC who have common sick symptoms including fevers, ear infections, sore throats, etc., receiving the care they need to return to daycare or school as soon as possible.

“This clinic, the first of its kind for Inova, fast tracks existing Falls Church ICCC patients who are sick,” commented Karen Berube, Chief, Community Health and Health Equity, SVP, Inova. “Instead of calling to make an appointment at the Falls Church ICCC, parents may bring their children directly to this pediatric sick clinic without an appointment to receive immediate care. This avoids a trip to an emergency department or urgent care, making same-day care for sick children timely and accessible.” The long-term plan for the clinic will be to expand services to other children who are uninsured or underinsured so all kids have access to the care they need.

ICCC has had significant growth over the last decade, providing primary healthcare for children who are un- or underinsured at its six community locations. Funding for the Inova Cares pediatric sick clinic was made possible in part thanks to a transformational gift from the Shrader family.

“Philanthropy plays a critical role at Inova, and we are deeply grateful to the Shrader family for helping make this important community resource a reality and enable this new level of access for the children and families we serve at our Inova Cares Clinics,” shared Steven Norris, Vice President of Philanthropy, Inova Health Foundation.

Located on the ground floor of the Falls Church ICCC, the facility includes six examination rooms staffed by multiple physicians with the ability to see up to 50 patients a day Monday through Friday.
