Inova Health System and DPR Construction Celebrate Topping Out Milestone for New Inova Health Center in Alexandria

Falls Church, VA – Inova Health System and DPR Construction marked a significant milestone today with the “topping out” of its new Inova Health Center – Oakville, which is set to become a state-of-the-art emergency and outpatient healthcare facility serving the Alexandria area.

The “topping out” ceremony, a long-standing tradition in the construction industry, marks the placement of the final structural beam on top of a building. To celebrate the occasion, Inova and DPR Construction held a brief ceremony on site attended by key stakeholders, including hospital staff and construction workers. 

The new Health Center is an outpatient facility that will include a full-service emergency room, ambulatory (outpatient) surgery, imaging services, primary care, and medical offices. The new facility is designed to create a welcoming and healing environment for patients and their families and will complement Inova’s existing full-service acute care hospital in Alexandria.

Construction on the new Health Center began in August 2021, with DPR Construction leading the project. The project is on track to be completed by Fall 2024.

The Inova Health Center – Oakville, is an important part of Inova’s ongoing efforts to fully build out its healthcare delivery system and will expand Inova’s system of services in the growing Eastern Region of Northern Virginia, which includes the City of Alexandria and surrounding communities, Mount Vernon, Lorton, Franconia, and Springfield.
