Laura Matthews, MBA, MPH Named as Vice President and Administrator of Inova Schar Cancer

Inova Schar Cancer is proud to announce that Laura Matthews, MBA, MPH, has been named as Inova Schar’s Vice President and Administrator. Laura joined Inova in 2014 as part of the strategic planning team before joining the Inova Schar team as Director of Operations and Growth in January 2018. She began working as the Acting Vice President for Inova Schar Cancer in October 2019.

During her time with Inova Schar, Laura has led many key operations including the opening of the Inova Mather Proton Therapy Center and leading the team through COVID-19 response-related efforts during this pandemic.

“Laura is an exceptional member of our team who has seamlessly guided us during this unprecedented time. Her dedication to quality patient care and outcomes perfectly aligns with Inova’s commitment to excellence,” said John Deeken, MD, President of Inova Schar Cancer. “We are thrilled to have her not only as a team member at Inova Schar, but also to complete the leadership triad for cancer services.”     

Prior to her work with Inova, Laura served in various internal and external healthcare consulting roles with ECG Management Consultants, Booz Allen Hamilton and the Nemours A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, her MPH from George Washington University in Washington, DC, and her MBA with a healthcare specialization from Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
