Zika Virus Information

The Zika virus is spread mostly by the bite of an infected Aedes species mosquito (Ae. aegypti and Ae. albopictus). These mosquitoes are aggressive daytime biters. They can also bite at night. There is no vaccine or medicine for Zika. Please find prevention information from the CDC.

    Are newborns at risk of the negative outcomes from the Zika virus? Also, what is the status of Zika outbreak in the Northern Virginia?

    How common are these Aeded mosquitos in the Northern Virginia area? What are the early symptoms?
