Inova Participates in National Day Of Action For High Blood Pressure Awareness, Detection, and Control

Supports Measure Up/Pressure Down® National Campaign

FALLS CHURCH, VA – May 4, 2015 – Inova Medical Group team will be hosting free community blood pressure screenings as part of the annual Measure Up/Pressure Down® National Day of Action: Roll Up Your Sleeves! event on May 7, 2015.

Medical groups, health systems, sponsors and partners across the nation will take at least one “action” in local communities to raise awareness of high blood pressure to patients, providers, employees and community members.

In addition to the free blood pressure screenings, physicians from Inova Medical Group will provide free Ask The Expert classes,  educating community members about the dangers of high blood pressure and regulating high  blood pressure in the safe range for a healthy life.

“High blood pressure (hypertension) is one of our nation’s most significant health issues” said Dr. Scott Vejcik, spokesperson for the Inova Medical Group Team and advocate for Measure Up/Pressure Down® awareness. “An estimated one in three (68 million) Americans have the disease, often referred to as the silent killer.  Uncontrolled high blood pressure can lead to heart disease, stroke, heart attack, kidney disease and other serious health problems.”
