Leesburg, VA – (March 9, 2009) — The Birthing Inn at Inova Loudoun Hospital will host a morning course called “Parenting 1*2*3 Magic” on Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to noon, for parents wishing to learn effective parenting strategies and discipline for children ages 2 through 12. The course will be held at Inova Loudoun Hospital’s Lansdowne Campus, 44045 Riverside Parkway, Leesburg, in the patient education room. Cost for the course is $55 per couple. The Parenting 1*2*3 method is based on a program created by Thomas W. Phelan, PhD, a registered clinical psychologist with more than 25 years of experience as a clinician and a father. Dr. Phelan believes it is never too early or too late for parents, grandparents, teachers, caretakers, and parents-to-be to learn discipline practices that will help their children or the children they care for grow and develop into respectful and responsible adults.
Children don’t come with a training manual, but they do come with challenges for parents, such as bedtime battles, whining, clean-up time, stopping bad behaviors and promoting good behaviors. This course will help attendees feel equipped for the challenges.
