Inova Health System Sponsors First Ever “Women’s Show of Northern Virginia”

Inova Physicians, Nurses and Staff to Offer Health Information, Cooking Demonstrations, Virtual Tour of an Artery

Falls Church, VA – (March 30, 2009) — Inova Health System is proud to be the official health sponsor of the first ever “Women’s Show of Northern Virginia,” produced by Southern Shows. Inova’s physicians, nurses and staff will be on hand to answer questions, discuss a variety of health topics and demonstrate healthy cooking techniques. Hundreds of exhibitors will offer women the chance to shop for the latest fashion styles and accessories, learn about healthy lifestyle tips, and learn about products on education, travel and more.

Inova will present a series of physician panel discussions focusing on various health topics that include:

• Breast Health: What every Woman Needs to Know, Friday at 3:30 p.m.
• Back, Bones and Joints, Friday at 6:30 p.m.
• Evaluating Developmental and Physical Needs of Kids, Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
• Gynecological Health, Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
• Options for Weight Loss Surgery, Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
• Heart Health Risk Factors, Management and Treatments, Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Chefs, food managers and nurses from Inova Loudoun Hospital will present Heart Healthy Cooking techniques at the cooking stage on Friday and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

Guests are also invited to check out Inova’s Mobile Health Van, which will provide free health screenings including blood pressure, body mass index, bone density, sun damage and limited glucose (diabetes) screenings. In addition, guests can take a journey inside the body with the Artery Explorer, a multi-sensory, interactive motion simulator that takes people on a virtual tour of an artery affected by atherosclerosis, or plaque buildup.

Admission at the door is $9 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12, and free for children under 6. Advance discount tickets are available at Harris Teeter for $7 and at www.WomensShowNova.com for $8. Parking is free.
