We will always have Paris

Jean-Jullien_illustration_Peace-for-ParisThe following post was co-authored by Dr. Gail Rosseau and Daniel Stauffer. Francophone community.

The entire world loves the City of Light. Whether one has had the good fortune of strolling along the lovely boulevards of Paris, or have only enjoyed its beauty in images, we all adore Paris. The global community of nations was shocked and horrified by the recent terrorist attacks against this center of world culture.

SolidarityWashington, DC has been called “Paris on the Potomac.” Designed by Frenchman Pierre L’Enfant, there are many similarities between our two cities. Here at Inova, many of us have colleagues who work at Parisian hospitals, have friends in Paris, or know the lovely sites impacted by this tragedy. Some may even know victims. There is a French-loving community at Inova and in Washington DC that stands in solidarity with all the French, today and every day. Beauty, light and humanity will always triumph.
We were comforted to see the reaction of the Parisians and the entire French nation, recalling the values at the foundation of our society: generosity, solidarity, courage and patriotism.

“Nous avons été très récomforté de voir la réaction des Parisians et de la France toute entière retrouvant les valeurs de base de notre société: générosité, solidarité courage et patriotisme.

Merci beaucoup pour ces jolis mots qui décrivent le sentiment de tous les francophones autour du monde. L’amitié que nous avons crée autour de cette belle culture et belle langue sera toujours le plus beau cadeau.
