The National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington DC issued a winter storm warning in effect from January 24, 11 p.m. until January 26, 4 a.m. Mixed precipitation expected with total snow and sleet accumulations between 6 to 10 inches and ice accumulations possible, impacting road conditions.
Inova hospitals are open. Inova outpatient offices will be closed for in-patient appointments on Monday, January 26. Virtual visit appointments will remain as scheduled.
Inova regularly trains and prepares for emergency events, including weather-related events. We will continue to provide high quality care while keeping our team members, patients and visitors safe. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to minimize disruptions and ensure you continue to receive the care you need. Inova hospitals and Inova GoHealth Urgent Care Centers are open. To help keep everyone safe, Inova outpatient offices (primary and specialty care) are converting Monday, January 26, in‑person appointments to virtual visits when possible and assisting patients who need to reschedule. Inova Blood Donor Centers will be open on Monday, January 26, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. If it is safe for you to travel, we encourage you to come in and donate – blood donations are urgently needed to support patients who depend on them every day. Hello Omer, Inova hospitals will remain open. If you have a surgery scheduled at an Inova hospital, it will proceed as planned unless you hear otherwise from your physician’s office.
hello, I’m scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday, non-critical overnight stay at Alexandria Hospital. this is in the middle of a predicted run of freezing rain. what is your policy, as I am inclined not to go out in hazardous weather? thanks, Jim

If you need to cancel or reschedule your inpatient service due to the inclement weather, please contact your physician or the department where your appointment is scheduled. They will be able to review your care plan and assist with rescheduling as appropriate.
Please note that hospitals remain open and operational, even during severe weather.

Is the radiology department closed at Fairoaks hospital tomorrow?

We need a type and screen for a blood transfusion tomorrow. Should we go to Loudoun ER for that, assuming the outpatient lab is closed?
If the patient is scheduled for a transfusion the test can be done when they have the transfusion. Another option is to go to the Inova Lab at Inova Schar Cancer – Fairfax or Inova Schar Cancer – Fair Oaks. These two lab locations are open today until 3:30 p.m.
