Inova Cares joins Inova Juniper Program at new Dumfries location

Inova Cares/Juniper ribbon cutting including (L-R): Prince William County Chair-at-Large Deshundra Jefferson, Inova Chief, Community Health SVP Karen Berube, Thomasina Jamison, Prince William County Potomac Supervisor Andrea Bailey, Dr. John Moynihan, Inova Chief, Clinical Enterprise, Dr. John Verderese, Inova Division Chief, Community Health.

Fairfax, VA – Today Inova, with the support of the Potomac Health Foundation, celebrated the grand opening of the relocation and expansion of care with a new site located at 3800 Fettler Park Drive, Ste 301, Dumfries, VA 22205. The Inova Juniper Program (IJP) has provided care for people living with HIV in Dumfries for over 20 years. Along with the IJP relocation to the new site, Inova will be adding three new clinics at the same location: Inova Cares for Families (ICF) will be providing primary care to adults and children (coming soon); Inova Cares for Women (ICW) is providing OB/GYN services, and Inova Behavioral Health for depression/anxiety, making it easier for patients who are uninsured or qualify for Medicaid, FAMIS, or Inova’s Financial Assistance Program to obtain the medical care they need at a convenient central location.

In addition, the clinics will have comprehensive wrap-around services beyond the traditional medical visit, to include care coordination and behavioral health services. Outreach and support from Inova’s Community Health Workers will help patients identify and refer to needed services based upon Inova’s Social Drivers of Health survey designed to improve health outcomes.

Last year across the community, ICF had 12,576 patients with 32,221 patient encounters; ICW had 8,271 patients with 35,270 patient encounters; and at IJP 4,492 patients were seen with 14,242 patient encounters.

Specifically, the Dumfries suite will feature:

  • 12,099 square feet with a total of 16 exam rooms
  • Families and IJP each have 5 exam rooms
  • Women’s has 5 exams rooms
  • 5 behavioral health therapy rooms
  • 1 emergency food pantry
  • Team members will be able to see up to 87 patients per day

“This opening is part of Inova’s on-going effort to ensure patient access is aligned with community need,” said J. Stephen Jones, MD, FACS, President and CEO, Inova. “Our mission is to provide care to each person in every community we are privileged to serve with patient-centered, accessible high-quality healthcare services reflecting, in this case, the specific needs of Dumfries’ residents.”

The Inova Cares and Juniper programs provide comprehensive primary care services including sick and well visits, physicals, nurse case management, education and counseling for disease prevention, psychosocial support and care coordination.

“Our Dumfries neighbors will be afforded comprehensive care at one convenient location,” commented Karen Berube, SVP and Chief, Community Health, Inova. “Access to vital healthcare services ensures that every member of the family is assured high-quality care and support at every age and stage throughout their lifespan for both acute and long-term wellbeing, regardless of their ability to pay.”
