Inova marks one-year anniversary of Saville Mobile Screening Bus

Delivering lifesaving cancer screenings across Northern Virginia

Fairfax, VA – Inova is celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Inova Saville Cancer Screening and Prevention Center Mobile Screening Bus, a mobile health program designed to bring lifesaving cancer screenings directly to communities where access to preventive care is often limited.

In its first year, the mobile program hosted 70 screening events and established 21 community partnerships across three counties, helping remove barriers to care and connect patients with critical preventive services. Through these efforts, the team provided:

• 800 mammograms
• 168 Pap smears
• 226 colon cancer screenings

Beyond prevention, the program also played a vital role in ensuring patients received appropriate follow-up care when needed, including:

• 104 clinical breast exams
• 75 diagnostic mammograms
• 12 biopsies
• 7 breast surgery referrals

“By meeting patients where they are, we’re able to reduce barriers, build trust, and connect people to care earlier when it can make the greatest difference,” said Liz Stark, Director of Community Health, Inova. “This first year has shown what’s possible through strong community partnerships, and we look forward to reaching even more patients and saving more lives in the years ahead.”

As Inova continues to expand access, strengthen community partnerships, and reach more patients across Northern Virginia, mobile screening programs like the Inova Saville Mobile Screening Bus play a critical role in closing gaps in care, enabling earlier detection, and improving outcomes for patients who might otherwise go unscreened.
