Inova Loudoun Hospital designated as a Level II Trauma Center

Leesburg, VA – Inova is proud to announce that the Inova Virts Miller Family Emergency and Trauma Center at Inova Loudoun Hospital has been officially designated as a provisional Level II Trauma Center, strengthening access to high-level emergency care for patients in Loudoun County and across the region. This is the only trauma center in Loudoun County, complementing the capabilities of Inova Fairfax Medical Campus’s nationally recognized Level I Trauma Center, and enhances the coordination and reach of Inova’s trauma network.

As a Level II Trauma Center, Inova Loudoun Hospital delivers immediate, expert trauma care 24/7—because in the emergency department, minutes, even seconds, can mean the difference between life and death. With trauma-trained surgeons, specialized nurses, critical care teams, and advanced equipment always on hand, patients in Northern Virginia can now receive the highest level of care closer to home, when it matters most.

“When someone in our community experiences a traumatic injury—whether it’s a car accident, a fall, or a life-threatening medical emergency—they deserve immediate, expert care, close to home. Today, we can say with full confidence: they have it, right here, in Loudoun,” said Susan Carroll, President, Inova Loudoun Hospital. “This is a milestone moment, not just for Inova Loudoun Hospital, but for every person who calls Loudoun County home.”

Generous philanthropic support has helped shape and advance this project.

”Our family has experienced firsthand how vital it is to have world class trauma care close to home. When lives hang in the balance, every minute—and every mile—matters.  Philanthropy plays a crucial role in healthcare. It allows us to dream bigger, move faster, and serve better.  Our family is proud to have supported this effort — and even prouder to see what it’s become,” commented lead donors Sharon D. Virts and Scott F. Miller.

The Level II designation reflects Inova’s continued investment in lifesaving care and regional emergency preparedness. Together, Inova’s Level I and Level II Trauma Centers work seamlessly to ensure patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time, when every second counts.
