Critically low blood donations during spring break have caused local shortage

Sterling, VA – Inova Blood Donor Services has experienced higher than usual patient needs that have critically depleted the Type O blood inventory and the platelet inventory of all blood types.  Donors are needed now to meet the needs of patients in our community.

If you are Type O Positive, O Negative, A Negative or B Negative –Sign up to donate whole blood or double red cells at inovablood.org or call 1-866-BLOODSAVES.

If you are Type O Positive, A Positive, B Positive, AB Positive or AB Negative—Sign up to donate platelets.

Additionally, Inova Blood Donor Services is preparing to serve two pediatric patients in one of the hospitals they serve, who require donations from donors who donate platelets, red cells and plasma during the same donation.  If you are Type O Positive or A Positive—please sign up to donate platelets this weekend to potentially help these patients in need.

Photo ID Required. Please allow one hour for your blood donation.
