Ladies Board Awards $110,500 to Nursing Students

Leesburg, VA — The Ladies Board of Inova Loudoun Hospital is pleased to announce that it has awarded 51 nursing scholarships, totaling $110,500.  The recipients represent 19 different accredited schools, including Loudoun’s Monroe Technology Center, and are enrolled in programs at the licensed practical nurse (LPN), associate, bachelor, and master’s levels.

Among the scholarships given this year is a $1,000 award for forensic training for a nurse at Inova Loudoun Hospital.  Joyce Biesecker, chairperson of the Nursing Scholarship Committee, commented, “We are pleased that again this year we are funding a $1,000 scholarship for forensic training for a nurse at Inova Loudoun Hospital.  We anticipate that this person will work for the FACT (Forensic Assessment and Consultation Team) in the new Inova Ewing FACT Department at Inova Loudoun’s Cornwall Campus in Leesburg.”

Funding for the scholarships comes from the Annual Ladies Board Rummage Sale, The Gift Shop at Inova Loudoun Hospital, Twice Is Nice thrift shop in Leesburg, and the Lights of Love remembrance program.

Since The Ladies Board established the scholarship program in 1959, nearly 1200 scholarships totaling over $1,770,000 have been awarded.

Scholarship applications for the coming year will be available online at www.ladiesboard.org in early 2019.
