Leesburg, VA — The new Inova Schar Cancer Institute – Peterson Family Breast Center offers area women convenient and comprehensive care close to home.  Located on the main campus of Inova Loudoun Hospital, the 3,800 square foot suite is modern, soothing and provides a central navigation point for women. The Peterson family generously donated $10M to Inova, $1M specifically for the Breast Center at Inova Loudoun Hospital.

The Peterson Family Breast Center features state-of-the-art detection and diagnostic imaging services, breast navigation, genetic counseling, and the nationally acclaimed Life with Cancer® program, all in one location.  Additionally, fellowship trained breast radiologists will read all mammograms.  The Breast Center complements Inova Loudoun Hospital’s existing accredited breast program and patient’s care is integrated with the national experts at the Inova Schar Cancer Institute.

“In partnership with the Peterson family, we are committed to offering women in our community access to more specialists, such as fellowship trained board certified breast imagers, more technology and more services closer to home to prevent, detect and manage breast cancer,” stated Deborah Addo, CEO, Inova Loudoun Hospital.

Last year, nearly 253,000 women across the United States were diagnosed with breast cancer, the most common type of cancer among women in this community.

“My colleagues and I at the Inova Schar Cancer Institute extend our deep appreciation to the Peterson family for their continued generous support to Inova, support which in so many ways contributes to the health and well-being of the members of our community. We cannot thank you enough,” Dr. Donald “Skip” Trump, CEO and Executive Director of the Inova Schar Cancer Institute.

“The Peterson Family Foundation is honored to support all of Inova’s cancer programs. Their integrity of services and patient care makes it an investment we know helps so many in our communities through the most difficult of life’s journeys,” said Lauren Peterson.
