Inova Blood Donor Services Announces Critical Need for Blood

FALLS CHURCH, VA– Due to high winds today, a blood drive was cancelled which would have collected 100 units.  Inova Blood Donor Services is seeking immediate help from blood donors to replace the units to ensure there is an adequate supply of blood for patients in the hospital.  There is a critical need for all blood types, especially types O- and O+.  Donor eligibility includes at least 17 years of age (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, have valid photo ID, and be feeling generally well on the day of donation.

To find a donor location or make an appointment, call 1-866-BLOODSAVES or access www.InovaBlood.org.

Blood can be donated every 56 days (every 8 weeks).  There is no substitute for human blood and the community must work together to donate and spread the word of how important blood donation is to fulfill the needs of our patients who depend on blood transfusions to heal.
