Inova Mount Vernon Hospital Receives Two National Patient Safety Awards

Alexandria VA, April 12 Inova Mount Vernon Hospital announces it has received two prestigious patient safety awards from prominent national patient advocacy organizations.

Leapfrog Group – Grade “A” Hospital Safety Score – Spring 2017

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is one of only 823 hospitals nationwide to receive an A hospital patient safety ranking by The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog organization. This distinction ranks the hospital among the safest hospitals in the United States.

This “A” score marks Inova Mount Vernon’s 6th consecutive “A” patient safety rating, qualifying the hospital as an elite “Leapfrog Straight A organization for sustained patient safety excellence.

An “A” Hospital Safety Score from the Leapfrog Group represents a gold standard for patient safety and is compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading patient safety experts. The Hospital Safety Score is free to the public and designed to provide consumers information they can use to protect themselves and their families when facing a hospital stay.

HealthGrades – 2017 Patient Safety Excellence Award

Inova Mount Vernon has also received the 2017 Patient Safety Excellence Award from Healthgrades, the national advocacy organization dedicated to helping consumers find the right doctor and right hospital for the right care.

This distinction places Inova Mount Vernon in the top 10% of all hospitals evaluated for superior performance in safeguarding patients from serious, potentially preventable complications during their hospital stays.  Inova Mount Vernon is one of only 460 hospitals in the nation to receive this distinction, and one of only 19 in the state of Virginia.  Click here for the full listing of national patient safety excellence awardees.
