Market Street in Leesburg, is operated by The Ladies Board of Inova Loudoun Hospital. Door prizes and light refreshments will be served on this important day. Special sales will occur all week long from the best thrift shop in Loudoun County.

The question of what to do with the left over items from the annual Rummage Sale became an idea that grew in the minds of several Ladies Board members in the late 1980’s. Eventually, a committee was formed in 1989 to research the idea of a thrift shop. The committee researched the feasibility of starting a small business-thrift shop in Leesburg. Eventually, the costs, possible locations, displays, volunteers, and hours to be open came together in the first Twice is Nice located at 14 West Market Street across the street from the Tally Ho Theater. On October 10, 1990 the shop opened with a grand celebration of Ladies Board members, hospital administration, and of course buyers! Twice is Nice was named by nurse, Bonnie Austin, who won the shop ‘naming’ contest at Loudoun Hospital Center.

The thrift shop outgrew its space and the expectations of the original committee by the late 1990’s. In 2000 Twice is Nice moved to its current location at 305 E. Market Street in the Tollhouse Shopping Center. The 2400 square feet of additional space was filled quickly and sales increased dramatically. The shop has recently been renovated and our shoppers now appreciate the up-to-date surroundings and the nicest volunteers in Leesburg, according to comments from our shoppers.

Over the years, Twice is Nice has donated over 1.5 million dollars to The Ladies Board General Fund and the Nursing Scholarship Program. The monies from Twice is Nice, The Gift Shop, Lights of Love Remembrance Program, and the annual Rummage Sale are used to enhance patient care and contribute to new equipment for our hospital staff at Inova Loudoun Hospital.
