The new facility will be named the Veatch Family Emergency Department in recognition of lead donor and local entrepreneur Jeffrey Veatch. It will boast 35 new all-private treatment rooms, new “fast track” rooms to treat less serious injuries, improved ambulance access, new cardiac emergency rooms and a specialized pediatric treatment area among its many new amenities. The new facility is tentatively slated to open late next year or early in 2017.
In her remarks to gathered local civic, community and Inova leaders, hospital CEO, Deborah Addo stated “today marks another step forward in the transformation of Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. This is truly a major milestone in our hospital’s commitment to always providing safe, highly reliable, high-quality care and a superior patient experience – every time, every touch.”
Today’s groundbreaking is just the latest example of Inova Mount Vernon’s continuing growth and vitality. Last fall, the hospital formally dedicated the Mark and Brenda Moore Patient Tower, opened two new state-of-the-art operating suites and recently renovated its main lobby area.
Inova Mount Vernon Hospital’s superior clinical quality and high patient safety is now being widely recognized by leading groups across the health care industry. In July, U.S. News & World Report named the hospital the #6 “Top Hospital” across the metropolitan DC region; and in April the Leapfrog Group, the nation’s leading patient safety advocacy group, awarded the hospital a “Grade A” rating for patient safety.
