Inova Mount Vernon Hospital CEO Named a 2015 “Trailblazing Woman in Healthcare”

MOUNT VERNON, VA – May 7, 2015 – Inova Mount Vernon Hospital CEO Deborah Addo has been named a “2015 Trailblazing Woman in Healthcare” and is featured in the May/June issue of Chesapeake Physician Magazine.

Addo, who was named CEO at Inova Mount Vernon in June 2014, has been instrumental in orchestrating a significant transformation at the hospital during her tenure.  The hospital realized a nearly $14M turnaround between fiscal years 2013 and 2014, and last November opened its new Mark and Brenda Moore Patient Tower.  Inova Mount Vernon is currently renovating its main patient lobby and later this year will break ground on a greatly expanded emergency department to better serve the diverse and rapidly growing Mount Vernon community.

A Washington, DC native, Addo had previously served in leadership roles of increasing responsibility at Greater Southeast Community Hospital, Children’s National Medical Center and Meritus Health.  She states in her interview that along her career path “with each new role I took on, I realized I was often the only African American executive, and one of very few women.”

Addo says “as CEO, I think I have the best job in the world.  And I am so happy to be at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital.  I believe in the power and goodness of community hospitals. While it’s our mission to care for you, I appreciate all of the care that has been shown to me.”
