AONE Announces 2015 President-Elect

Chicago (October 8, 2014) – The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) announced today that Maureen Swick, RN, MSN, PhD, NEA-BC, senior vice president and chief nurse executive at Inova Health System, Falls Church Va., was elected 2015 president-elect of the AONE Board of Directors. Swick will serve as president-elect for a one-year term beginning January 1, 2015 and will become AONE president serving a one-year term beginning January 1, 2016. As president, Swick will lead a membership organization of more than 8,700 nurse leaders whose strategic focus is excellence in nursing leadership.

Swick leads a team of more than 5,000 nurses in five hospitals and multiple delivery sites throughout the Inova System, the largest not-for-profit health care provider in the Washington, D.C., area. In addition, Swick serves on the American Hospital Association (AHA) Board of Trustees and the AHA Behavioral and Substance Abuse Council.

Swick served previously on the AONE Board of Directors, and is past-president of the Organization of Nurse Executives of New Jersey and former chair of the Northern Virginia Hospital Alliance.
Swick has more than 25 years’ experience in health care. She earned her Ph.D. at Kennedy Western University and a master’s of science in nursing from Columbia University, New York.

Also elected to the AONE Board of Directors by the AONE membership were:

  • Elizabeth Hale, RN, MS, CENP, chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services at Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence, Mass.
  • May Ann Fuchs, DNP, RN, FAAN, vice president of patient care and system chief nurse executive at Duke University Health System, Durham, N.C.
