Inova Health System Recognized for Sustainability Efforts by Northern Virginia Technology Council

Inova Named a Finalist for the NVTC ‘Green Award’

Falls Church, VA – (October 22, 2010) – Inova Health System is proud to be recognized for its sustainability efforts by the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC). At the NVTC’s annual TechCelebration in October, Inova was a finalist for a ‘Green Award’ and recognized for making an impact on the region through top-notch environmental practices.

Inova’s Sustainability Engineer and employee Green Teams spearhead the health system’s sustainability programs which include using recycled content paper (saving 3500 trees a year), reducing medical waste by 50,000 pounds, and recycling 130 tons of commingled recyclables a month, which translates to saving three acres of standing forests.

NVTC, a membership and trade association for the technology community in Northern Virginia, is the largest technology council in the nation and serves 1,000 companies from all sectors of the technology industry. The group’s annual TechCelebration conference brings together technology, business, community and government leaders to celebrate the strength and diversity of the region’s tech community.
