Northern Virginia’s Only Children’s Hospital Receives Support for Child Life Program

The check represents the investment from the City of Fairfax and Cox Communications as presenting sponsors underwriting this year’s Cox Movies Under the Moon® fundraising event. It also accounts for a special sponsorship from Panera Bread and donations made by those who attended the annual fundraiser in June. In addition, community volunteers, including a group from nearby Truro Church, worked tirelessly each night to make the event a great success.

“I want to express our sincerest thanks to the City of Fairfax, Cox Communications, Panera Bread and families who joined us for Cox Movies Under the Moon,” said David Goldberg, Administrator, Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children. “Our dedicated doctors, nurses and staff strive to provide the best care for our community, and the generosity of our community partners will help us fulfill that mission.”

“Cox is thrilled to have sponsored this event for the last seven years and we continue to be touched by the community’s generosity and support for Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children through Cox Movies Under the Moon,” said Allen Roberts, Vice President of Operations for Cox Communications. “As a member of the local community, it’s important that we offer support to the facilities that serve our customers, employees and their families.”

“The City is delighted to be a long-time partner with Cox Communications in bringing entertainment and enjoyment to so many, which ultimately helps Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children raise much needed funds to assist sick children in our community,” said Mayor Robert Lederer, City of Fairfax.

The funds will support the hospital’s Child Life Program, which helps ease the anxiety and stress that can affect children during a hospital stay or outpatient procedure. Certified specialists with the Child Life Program provide support during medical procedures, medical and therapeutic play, hands-on education about the hospital environment and bereavement support.
