Inova Health System Names Maureen Swick Chief Nurse Executive

Nurse Brings More than 20 Years of Experience to Role

Falls Church, VA – (May 10, 2010) — Maureen Swick, RN, PhD, has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive of Inova Health System. Swick comes to Inova from St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, where she was the Vice President of Patient Care Services. Swick began her role with Inova on April 5.

“Maureen has a proven track record in designing and optimizing clinical operations to drive business performance,” said Kylanne Green, chief administrative officer, Inova Health System. “She has achieved great success in a very challenging healthcare business environment and is a strong advocate for nurses and the practice of nursing.”

Swick began her career as a staff nurse at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ, in 1984 and spent more than two decades in a variety of nursing roles of increasing responsibility before joining St. Peter’s in 2008. In addition to her many years as a nurse executive, Swick is active in the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), serving in a variety of capacities, including president of ONE/NJ in 2004-2006.

Swick has a PhD from Kennedy Western University, a Master of Science Degree in Nursing from Columbia University, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Monmouth University and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Brookdale Community College.
