Life with Cancer Launches New, Patient-Friendly Web Site

Site Features Easy-to-Use Online Calendar and Registration; Improved Accessibility and Resources for Patients, Families

Falls Church, VA – (December 1, 2009) – Life with Cancer®, part of Inova Health System and Northern Virginia’s only community-based, non-profit cancer education and support organization, has launched its new Web site, lifewithcancer.org. The site introduces a revamped, user-friendly look with improved features, including a new comprehensive class calendar with online registration; easy access to resources tailored for patients, caregivers, teens and kids; quick links to Life with Cancer’s social media sites; and a newsroom for quick access to the latest Life with Cancer news. Additionally, the Web site has in-depth information about Life with Cancer’s Spanish-language programs and events, as well as improved access to Inova Cancer Services and Inova Health System resources.

The new site was made possible by a $50,000, two-year grant from Side-Out Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer through volleyball tournaments across the nation. The grant’s goal is to advance Life with Cancer’s national presence and ability to educate and support those affected by cancer.

“We’re pleased to launch our new Web site to help provide more comprehensive resources to patients, families, friends and healthcare providers,” said Gordon Hay, Director, Life with Cancer. “As part of our efforts to expand regionally and nationally, our site will enable us to improve communications and outreach to those affected by cancer. As we continue to expand our service areas, our new site will be able to support our growing need to disseminate information to the community, as well as to receive feedback.”
