Inova Health System Hosts Gala 2009 to Benefit Hospitals and Health Programs

Aretha Franklin to Entertain; NPR’s Nina Totenberg to Emcee

Falls Church, VA – (October 19, 2009) – Inova Health System’s Gala 2009, Black and White Ball, will be held Saturday, Oct. 24, at The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner. This festive evening will include silent and live auctions, as well as a live performance by the world-renowned “Queen of Soul,” Aretha Franklin. NPR’s award-winning legal affairs correspondent, Nina Totenberg, will emcee the event.

This annual event raises funds to support facilities and programs throughout Inova Health System. Donors have the opportunity to select a beneficiary hospital or program of their choice. Last year’s gala raised more than $1.8 million.

The black-tie dinner and auction will be chaired by Paula and Andrew Darling of McLean, VA. The evening will also include a presentation of the “Commitment to Excellence” awards to those who have shown extraordinary leadership and dedication to Inova and its mission to improve the health of the diverse community it serves through excellence in patient care, education and research.
