Inova Health System Again Among ‘Most Wired’ Hospitals, Health Systems

Survey Finds Hospitals with Commitment to IT Innovation Have Better Outcomes

Falls Church, VA  – (July 9, 2009) – Inova Health System has again been named one of the nation’s 100 Most Wired hospitals and health systems, according to the results of the 2009 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study.

According to the 2009 study, the 100 Most Wired hospitals show better outcomes in patient satisfaction, risk-adjusted mortality rates and other key quality measures through the use of information technology (IT). Marking its 11th year, the Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study continues to be seen as a leader in the field in analyzing and benchmarking healthcare IT.

“We’re excited to have been selected once again as one of the top 100 Most Wired Health Systems in the country,” said Geoff Brown, SVP, chief information officer, Inova Health System. “As part of our commitment to provide superior healthcare throughout the System, we work to integrate technology in every way possible to not only improve the patient experience, but also help share critical information among our hospitals and physicians, to ensure that each patient gets the best and safest care.”

The Most Wired Survey is conducted annually by Hospitals & Health Networks magazine, the journal of the American Hospital Association, which uses the results to name the 100 Most Wired hospitals and health systems. It focuses on how the nation’s hospitals use information technologies for quality, customer service, public health and safety, business processes and workforce issues. Inova Health System has been a recipient of this recognition six out of the last 11 years, reflecting the organization’s commitment to a sustained culture of innovation and to technology solutions designed to improve patient care.

Hospitals & Health Networks conducted the 2009 survey in cooperation with Accenture, McKesson Corp. and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. The July H&HN cover story detailing results of the Most Wired survey is available at www.hhnmag.com.
