Inova Loudoun Hospital to Open Dedicated Oncology Unit

Open House for Hospital’s New Dedicated Oncology Unit

(April 8, 2009) – Join Inova Loudoun Hospital as we open the doors to our new dedicated Oncology Unit. The eight-bed unit (formerly the pediatric unit) was designed with the input of patients and family members in order to create a patient-friendly environment. Patients will find rooms with special support beds, patient recliner chairs, sleeper chairs for family members and flat panel televisions with DVD players. The new Oncology Unit will be staffed with nurses who are specially trained to care for cancer patients. In 2007, Inova Loudoun Hospital diagnosed and/or treated more than 450 cancer patients. This renovation was made possible through philanthropic donations, especially through the generosity of Elisabeth Simms, MD, and her family.
