Kelly Epps-Anderson, MD, an interventional cardiologist at Inova Heart and Vascular Institute (IHVI), has been named the new President, American Heart Association Greater Washington Region.
Along with incoming board members, Dr. Epps-Anderson will work to advance the mission and fundraising priorities for the American Heart Association. The board will also oversee opportunities for investment in the Washington, DC, region to improve health and well-being. Dr. Epps-Anderson will serve in the role for two years.
“I am looking forward to continuing the work that advances the mission of the American Heart Association, to aid our community in living longer, healthier lives,” Dr. Epps-Anderson said.
Dr. Kelly Epps-Anderson has a special interest in women’s cardiovascular health. She is passionate about educating women about their cardiovascular disease risk, prevention strategies and early recognition of symptoms of cardiovascular disease. She is Director of the Inova Women’s Cardiovascular Health Center and co-founded Inova’s cardio-oncology program, which is focused on helping patients avoid negative cardiovascular health consequences from chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
