Inova is using new AI-powered technology that enhances patient experience by allowing our clinicians to focus more on you – and less on their keyboards – during your appointment. 

What does it do?  

This secure, HIPAA-compliant tool records your visit (with your permission) and generates a clinical summary for your healthcare provider. It also creates a simplified version for you and highlights key information about your care. 

This technology helps reduce the time providers spend taking notes and ensures your provider can give you their full attention. It also improves communication by giving you a clear, written summary of your visit, so you can feel confident about your next steps. 

FAQs about new AI technology 

Q: Will my conversation be recorded? 
A: Only with your permission. Your provider can pause the recording at any time if you prefer not to record certain parts. 

Q: Is my information secure? 
A: Yes. The technology used is fully HIPAA-compliant. All recordings and summaries are encrypted and accessible only to your care team or authorized personnel. 

Q: How does this help me? 
A: Our AI technology helps your provider stay focused on you during the visit and ensures you leave with a clear understanding of what was discussed. 

Q: How long are the recordings kept? 
A: Recordings are stored securely for 30 days. After that, they are deleted in accordance with privacy and compliance standards. 

Q: Will I receive a summary of my visit? 
A: You will receive a note located in MyChart, which includes all details from your visit. This is the standard documentation provided. If you don’t have a MyChart account, you can sign up at Inova.org/MyChart
