Inova Health System is looking for individuals recovered from COVID-19 to donate plasma (colorless fluid part of blood) for a research study. Your donated plasma contains immunoglobulins (immune protection) and this study will use your plasma to help patients currently sick with COVID-19 disease.

My wife and I had a respiratory illness with fever around the middle of March. I also had an ear infection. I would like to give blood but I dont know if I had Covid19. Is there a way to find out before I give?
Thank you for your interest. In order to donate plasma for the COVID-19 clinical trial, you must have documentation of a confirmed positive test for COVID-19, and be symptom-free for 14 days. In order to be tested for COVID-19, please call your primary care physician to see if you can receive an order for testing.
If I was presumed positive with COVID-19, but have been symptom free for over a month, can I donate blood? I understand that I do not have the documentation for a confirmed case so I cannot donate plasma for the clinical trail.
At this time convalescent plasma donors must have had a positive COVID-19 test result that you can provide upon request. We will share any updates the FDA may make to the guidelines. Please find more information at http://www.inovablood.org/covid19plasma. Thank you for inquiry and willingness to make a lifesaving donation.
