Nothing is scarier to a parent than having a sick child. At Inova, we are committed to caring for children within both our emergency and urgent care facilities.

Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus (IFMC) has a dedicated pediatric emergency room (ER). Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital offers 24/7 access to pediatric specialist physicians on-site as well as Child Life specialists, who are trained to ease anxiety in children and explain procedures in an understandable and comforting fashion. In addition to IFMC, Inova Children’s dedicated pediatric ERs are at two other locations — Inova Fair Oaks and Inova Loudoun hospitals.

Across Inova, our child-friendly approach entails providing the specialized skills, expertise and resources pediatric patients need. For example, all Inova ERs offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to minimize discomfort during minor procedures, like stitches. And all Inova ERs have connectivity to ICH for telemedicine consultations, which provide 24-hour access to pediatric specialists.
