Inova Mount Vernon Chief Nursing Officer Honored with Virginia Nurses Foundation 2014 Leadership Excellence Award
Marie Duffy, DNP, RN, FNP-BC, NEA-BC, Receives “Leadership Excellence in Nursing Administration Award”
MOUNT VERNON, VA – on September 27th, the Virginia Nurses Foundation gave Inova Mount Vernon Chief Nursing Officer, Marie Duffy, DNP, RN, FNP-BC, NEA-BC, its “Leadership Excellence in Nursing Administration Award” at the Foundation’s annual Awards Gala.
The Foundation of the Virginia Nurses Association annually honors top nursing leaders from across the Commonwealth who advance the art and science of nursing to enhance the health and well-being of Virginia residents. Duffy was recognized by the Foundation for her “leadership which allows autonomy for her team” and for promoting “exemplary nursing practice in our community.”
Duffy says the award signifies seamless teamwork found across the nursing team of Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. Moreover, she says, “it means that the patient comes first at Inova Mount Vernon. When good communication, transparency and a common nursing vision are in practice, then patients benefit. This is the true barometer of our work.”
Duffy holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and a Master of Science in Nursing from Columbia University, New York. In addition, she is a published author in the Journal of Nursing Administration, the journal Nursing Management, and in other leading professional journals.
