Four Inova Hospitals Receive Five-star CMS Rating

Exclusive DC Metropolitan Rating for Second Year

Falls Church, VA,– The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services today released the results of Hospital Care, its five-star quality ratings for hospitals nationwide. Four Inova hospitals received 5 stars:  Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, Inova Mount Vernon Hospital, and Inova Loudoun Hospital.  Inova Health System received the first-ever 5 star ratings in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area last year as well as this year.

CMS’s Hospital Compare evaluates hospitals on up to 57 quality measures to calculate the star rating.  The seven key quality measures include:

• Mortality
• Safety of care
• Readmission
• Patient experience
• Effectiveness of care
• Timeliness of care
• Efficient use of medical imaging

Of the more than 4,500 hospitals evaluated by CMS, only 337, or seven percent, received 5-star ratings.
