Ladies Board Announces New Officers

(November 7, 2012) – The Ladies Board established in 1912 was instrumental in the purchase of the tract of land used for the first hospital in Loudoun County.  Folklore has it that the doctors in the community approached the ‘ladies’ of Loudoun and requested their assistance to raise funds to build a hospital.  Of course, the women of Loudoun rose to the challenge and the first hospital was built.  The Ladies Board of Inova Loudoun now eagerly begins the next 100 years of service to Loudoun County with tremendous enthusiasm.

They are proud to announce their officers for 2012-2014 with Verla Page as President. She is honored to serve the Ladies Board along with Sandra Bock, First Vice President; Hazel Saffell,  Second Vice President;  Nancy Epperson, Treasurer;  Recording Secretary,  Wendy Hale;  Corresponding Secretary, Suzette Robertson;   Becky Ottinger, Parliamentarian; and Becky Fiddler, Historian.

Mrs. Page and the new officers will preside over 70 active members who are dedicated to advancing healthcare at Inova Loudoun Hospital through fundraising activities that include, the 74th Annual Ladies Board Rummage Sale, Lights of Love Remembrance Program, Twice Is Nice Thrift Shop in Leesburg and the Gift Shop located at Inova Loudoun Hospital.

In 2012 the Ladies Board  awarded over $120,000 in nursing scholarships to Loudoun County residents along with monetary grants to various departments at Inova Loudoun Hospital to enhance their service to the patients and staff at the hospital. The Ladies Board also contributed over $100,000 towards their one million dollar pledge to the renovation of the Cornwall campus of Inova Loudoun Hospital. Verla Page is delighted to be president of this valuable organization that supports our Loudoun County community

The Ladies Board of Inova Loudoun, established in 1912, is a non-profit group with the mission to promote goodwill between the Hospital and the community to raise funds for scholarships, patient services, and health care projects.  The Ladies Board manages the hospital Gift Shop,  the Twice Is Nice Thrift  Shop, Lights of Love, the Polly Clemens Nursery Fund, and the Annual Ladies Board Rummage Sale.
