IAH Dedicates Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology Laboratories

Expands Inova Heart and Vascular Institute as part of Project 2010

Alexandria, VA – (September 21, 2011) – Inova Alexandria Hospital has dedicated new Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology Laboratories (“CVIR”), an expansion of the Inova Heart and Vascular Institute at the Alexandria Campus. A significant advancement based upon the hospital’s commitment and investment in technology and dedicated staff, the project comes on line just as Alexandria’s community demographics suggest a need for additional cardiac interventional services.

“The CVIR Department expanded by 16,000 square feet to accommodate patients in the most convenient, state-of-the-art facility possible,” commented Christine Candio, Chief Executive Officer of Inova Alexandria Hospital.  “An investment totaling close to $10 million, the expansion includes five new labs and a radiology department area renovation marking the completion of Phase II of our Project 2010.”

At a capital investment of $84 million, Project 2010 represents the largest investment of capital into Inova Alexandria Hospital in forty years.  For the past five years Inova Alexandria Hospital has been under construction, expanding of the Emergency Department, Pathology Lab which included new computer automation, a redesigned Same Day Surgery Department and the addition of two new operating rooms.
