Inova Mount Vernon Hospital Announces $43.6 Million Expansion Plan

Hospital Reaffirms Commitment to Mount Vernon Community

Alexandria, VA – (June 16, 2010) — Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is proud to announce plans for a $43.6 million expansion project. The renovation and expansion plans include a new patient tower, two operating rooms, more private rooms, upgrades to the infrastructure and additional space for continued growth.

“This is truly a milestone for Inova Mount Vernon Hospital and the community we serve,” said Barbara Doyle, CEO, Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. “This multi-million dollar expansion is a demonstration of the commitment we have to delivering high-quality care and being the healthcare provider of choice for the growing Mount Vernon area.”

More than 65,000 square feet will be newly built or revamped for medical surgical, orthopedics, joint replacement and rehabilitation care. This expansion will enhance the Center’s of Excellence at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital.

These planned changes will allow the hospital to address future inpatient and outpatient needs, increase patient privacy, offer state-of-the art operating room technology and more flexibility in case of a rise in patients during an emergency.

The project is contingent on state and local regulatory processes, which are required by any expansion made to hospital facilities. Based on those approvals, construction is expected to begin in 2012.
