Center to Feature New MRI, Low-Dose Radiation CT Scanner

Fairfax, VA – (March 9, 2010) – Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is hosting an open house for its new outpatient imaging center on Thursday, March 18. The Imaging Center, located on the Inova Fair Oaks Hospital Campus, features state-of-the-art equipment, including a 3T MRI, a 64-slice low-dose CT scanner and digital diagnostic system. The center’s location also improves access and convenience for patients and referring physicians, with one-stop service for scheduling, registration, imaging and CD pick-up.

The 3T MRI features state-of-the-art technology that allows for fast, high-contrast 3D imaging. The new 64-slice low-dose CT scanner offers high-resolution imaging to all parts of the body. The amount of radiation emitted by the new CT scanner is 40 percent less than conventional CT scanners.

“The new imaging center and the advanced technology of the MRI and CT will provide our patients with superior service and outstanding imaging,” said Mary Welch, director, Radiology, Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. “Low-dose CT scans provide high-quality images and less exposure to radiation than traditional CT scanners.”
