Inova Alexandria Hospital CEO Named Leader in International Professional Society

Alexandria, VA – (March 18, 2010) — Christine Candio, RN, FACHE, CEO of Inova Alexandria Hospital, has been elected to serve on the Board of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), an international professional society of more than 30,000 healthcare executives.

Candio will assume her role on March 20 at the Council of Regents Meeting during ACHE’s 53rd Congress on Healthcare Leadership in Chicago. She will represent ACHE affiliates as she serves a three-year term on the organization’s Board of Governors, which oversees ACHE operations and member services.

“I am truly honored to be selected to this position with the American College of Healthcare Executives,” said Candio. “I believe in the vision of the organization — to remain committed to excellence in healthcare management. This goal will benefit not only healthcare executives throughout the world, but also the communities in which we deliver care.”

Board-certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Candio served as a member of ACHE’s Chapters Committee from 2006 to 2008 and as Chapters Committee Chair from 2008 to 2009. She is also a past president of the Healthcare Management Association of Massachusetts, an ACHE Chapter.

In addition to her work with ACHE, Candio serves on the board of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the Alexandria Rotary, the Technical and Adult Program Advisory Board for the Alexandria School System, and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association Federal Advocacy Council. She is also an adjunct faculty member of the Georgetown University Graduate Mentorship Program.

Candio received her Master’s degree in public administration, with a focus in healthcare management, from Farleigh Dickinson University, and her Bachelor’s degree in nursing from William Patterson College of New Jersey.
