Inova Alexandria Hospital Names Daniel Jackson Chief Operating Officer

New COO Comes With More Than 10 Years of Healthcare Experience

Alexandria, VA – (February 2, 2009) – Inova Alexandria Hospital has named Daniel W. Jackson its new Chief Operating Officer. Jackson began his duties on January 19.

Jackson, who brings more than 10 years of healthcare leadership and experience to his new role, most recently served as chief operating officer of Northside Hospital and Tampa Bay Heart Institute, a 288-bed, full-service, acute care hospital in St. Petersburg, FL.

During his time with Northside, Jackson was responsible for a variety of hospital operations including all non-physician contracts, medical imaging, laboratory, biomedical services, ethics and compliance. Jackson led successful initiatives in reducing staff vacancies and employee turnover, a $1.5 million renovation project, and improvement in physician and nursing recruitment.

“Daniel has proven success in healthcare administration, strategic planning and personnel management, all of which will be great assets to our leadership team,” said Christine Candio, CEO, Inova Alexandria Hospital. “Daniel’s strong background in healthcare operations will help position our hospital for continued excellence.”

Prior to joining Northside Hospital, Jackson served as CEO of Northlake Hospital in GA and of Allegheny Regional Hospital in VA.

Jackson holds a Master’s in Public Health Administration from Meharry College and a Bachelor’s degree from Morehouse College.
