Inova Loudoun Hospital Offering Free Mammograms Through October

“October Free Mammogram” Program Open to Women in Need

Leesburg, VA – (October 20, 2008) — In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Inova Loudoun Hospital is offering 100 free mammogram screenings to women who are uninsured or overdue for their annual screening. The screenings will be offered through the month of October at three locations: Inova Loudoun Hospital at Lansdowne, Inova Loudoun Medical Campus Leesburg, and Inova Dulles South off Route 50 (please note free mammogram event is not occurring in 2013).

To schedule a free mammogram, patients can reference the “October Free Mammogram” program and will need an order from their physician. Patients will not be billed for the mammogram screening or the interpretation of the mammogram. To schedule an exam at Lansdowne call 703-858-6470 (please note free mammogram event is not occurring in 2013), or for an exam at Leesburg or Dulles South call 703-698-4488 (please note free mammogram event is not occurring in 2013).

The hospital will work with the Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Fund to locate women in need of mammograms. The Fund is an organization based in Middleburg that raises funds for breast cancer prevention and promotes early detection.

According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, accounting for more than 1 in 4 cancers diagnoses in US women. Studies show early detection of breast cancer through mammography greatly improves treatment options, the chances for successful treatment, and survival.
