Inova Alexandria Hospital Names Dr. John Audett Chief Medical Officer

Physician Brings More Than Two Decades of Experience To New Role

Alexandria, VA – (August 5, 2008) — Inova Alexandria Hospital has named John Audett, MD, its new chief medical officer. As chief medical officer, Dr. Audett will be responsible for the oversight of the Medical Affairs Office and its functions, as well as physician relations, and patient quality and safety.

Dr. Audett has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare. He served as senior vice president and vice president of medical affairs at Kent Hospital in Warwick, Rhode Island. While in that role, Audett led the medical staff and plotted the strategic direction to help ensure quality care and clinical programs at the hospital. He also implemented a Rapid Response Team that helped reduce the number of critical outcomes.

Audett was an integral part of the medical staff and executive leadership often serving as a liaison for the CEO between the hospital and Warwick community. Prior to joining Kent Hospital, he owned an internal medicine private practice and held the position of general medical officer for the United States Health Service.

“Dr. Audett has a proven track record of achievement and we’re very excited that he will join us in this new position,” said Christine Candio, CEO, Inova Alexandria Hospital. “We are confident that his experience and commitment to quality healthcare will continue to enhance our level of service to the community, quality care and the strategic direction of the hospital.”

Dr. Audett graduated from and trained at the University of St. Louis School of Medicine. He earned a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island and completed studies at the American College of Physician Executives.
