Media Alert: Online Employment Scam

Pictured above: a scam message sent by the imposter email “hr@inovahealthsystem.careers”

Inova Health System has been made aware of a malicious employment scam being carried out via online job forums such as LinkedIn and Indeed, where individuals are being targeted and presented with false offers and requests for personal information from an entity posing as an Inova recruiter. We are in the process of working with proper authorities to identify and contain these threat actors. Anyone who has been contacted from the domain @inovahealthsystem.careers should not reply or engage with the sender.

In addition:

  • To validate an offer or report a suspicious offer, please contact Inova at eServices@inova.org
  • If you believe you are a victim of this employment scam, please visit the Internet Crime Complaint Center to file a complaint with specific incident information.
  • If you shared financial information or made payment, please contact your bank for assistance.
  • If you shared personal information, please monitor your personal accounts for abuse.

Inova prioritizes the privacy and security of all current and future team members. Inova regularly uses LinkedIn, Indeed and other online job forums to recruit and hire new talent for the health system, however, we have secure systems in place to request personal and financial information and will never request this information via email or phone.

We condemn the actions being deployed by these threat actors and regret the disruption it has caused for potential candidates.

  • I was recently told I had the job for data entry at $35 an hour but they didn't give me my hours or call me at all. Definitely a scam from someone using a name under Inova Health System.

    • There is a new scam, Vishnu Kaushik that is on LinkedIn, has over 500 connections, but has poor wording and is not a part of the company recruitment team. Please be careful, as the profile appears robust at first. He asked for my resume and a time to call. This was of course very exciting as I had experience that aligned with the bioinformatics position, but thankfully I noticed that something seemed off.

  • I received an email from "Sophia" from Inova the other day. She had found my resume on Indeed. She set up a Skype interview for me with their hiring manager "Ashlee".
I thought it was odd that the interview was only a copy and paste chat and not a video interview.
When Ashlee indicated that they just happened to be opening an office in my small Arizona town, the red flags came out. Inova does business in the far east and Australia, so why are they setting up offices in Idaho and Arizona? I shut down the interview then and there. No info was passed along thank goodness. Be sure not to give them banking information.
