When the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) developed its COVID-19 professional practice guidelines, a work group of ASTRO members contributed – including Inova Schar’s Chairman and Medical Director of Radiation Oncology, Dr. Gopal Bajaj, who collaborated with fellow physicians from hospitals around the United States.
The group based the guidelines on information from a variety of resources including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Amercian Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO), combined with their own practical experience and knowledge.
ASTRO is the premier radiation oncology society in the world, with more than 10,000 members who are physicians, nurses, biologists, physicists, radiation therapists, dosimetrists and other health care professionals who specialize in treating patients with radiation therapies. The ASTRO COVID-19 FAQs are provided for voluntary, educational use by healthcare providers during the evolving COVID-19 pandemic.
