Cold Weather Skin Care

It’s no secret – winter weather can wreak havoc on your skin. Freezing temperatures, dry air and harsh conditions can lead to redness, eczema and even acne.

But, don’t despair! With a few simple changes, you can keep your skin healthy and glowing all winter long. Try these top tips:

TIP 1: Switch to a mild cleanser. Naturopathica® is a certified organic skincare line with wonderful cleansers including the Aloe Cleansing Gel.  This particular product is a gentle, sulfate-free, certified organic foaming wash with 50%+ aloe vera leaf juice.  Avoid grainy exfoliants, peels and masks, which can irritate your skin in cold weather. Wash with warm, not hot, water.

TIP 2: Use a serum. It’s chock full of moisturizing and anti-aging benefits. Vitamin C serums can help to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, mask the loss of firmness and brighten the skin’s complexion.

TIP 3: Swap your lightweight moisturizer for a thicker cream, especially at night. Look for products with fatty acids and ceramides like the Naturopathica® Argan & Retinol Wrinkle Repair Night Cream.

TIP 4: Don’t skip the sunscreen! Apply SPF30 or higher 15 minutes before you go outside – every day, rain or shine.  One of our favorites is the OBAGI® Sun Shield Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 50.

TIP 5: Use a humidifier if your home or office is very dry.

If problems persist, consult a skincare professional.
