Inova Milestone: Keys to the Personalized Health Campus

Today, Inova marks another milestone on its journey into the future of health. At 12:01 a.m., we received the keys to and took possession of the property that is the future home to the new Inova Center for Personalized Health. This day has been years in the making, and it is gratifying to see our efforts come to fruition.

The 117-acre campus, which is located right on the Capital Beltway and just 15 miles from the nation’s capital, will be a unique, internationally prominent hub for discovery, prevention, health and longevity. By acquiring this property, we are now on the journey to truly advancing the future of health for decades to come. We will create a unique, internationally prominent center for genomic research, personalized health and wellness, and associated life-science commercial development. The Inova Center for Personalized Health will connect researchers, clinicians and empowered consumers.

Beyond the symbolic significance of receiving the keys, work is already underway to plan for the various uses of the the 1.2 million square feet of existing building space. The Inova Dwight and Martha Schar Cancer Institute and the Inova Translational Medicine Institute will anchor the new site, and we are working to build, attract and expand services, like a Global Center for Genomic and Bioinformatics Research, genomic counseling, a multi-disciplinary clinic, a health and wellness fitness complex and other services that meet the needs of those we serve, both regionally and globally.

It’s an exciting time at Inova as we bring our personalized health services under one roof and, ultimately, transform patient care and advance personalized and predictive medicine to keep people healthier longer.

Look for a big announcement about one of our genomic projects later this month. Our scientists, clinicians, technologists and laboratory technicians are running trials, treating patients, asking hard questions and finding answers. That’s the work we’re all here to do – treat disease with precision, get people well faster and help them stay healthy longer.

Stay tuned to this blog for more information as the Inova Center for Personalized Health takes shape; I’ll be sharing updates here.
