In light of the announcement of the first contracted Ebola case in the United States, Inova’s clinical leadership and Ebola Task Force are making upgrades to our action plan. We are increasing our preparation drills and increasing our level of PPE above and beyond what the CDC recommends to further protect our staff, patients and the community. As first responders, our team is increasing its readiness. The Inova Ebola Task force will continue to evaluate our preparations and adjust plans as the situation evolves.

As an expectant mother who will be at Inova Fairfax Hospital in the next month for a planned c-section, I'm wondering if, in addition to an action plan, the hospital is screening the healthcare workers if they have had any recent travel to affected areas or been in contact with those who have traveled to the affected areas?

Inova is advising against non-essential travel to West Africa countries where Ebola has been reported. If an Inova employee travels to one of these countries, they are required to share travel plans and dates with their manager. Upon return, employees are required to check in with Inova's Employee Health department to be monitored for Ebola signs and symptoms for 21 days.
Hello, I am the Administrator in Annandale VA. I am interested in knowing any protocol for quarantine of employees returning from vacations or L.O.A. in affected countries.
Currently, we quarantine for 10 d. before allowing for a return to work. Another facility, quarantines for 21 d. I'm trying to determine a best practice for our facilities.
