Enjoy a Safe Fourth of July

(July 4, 2012) – Happy Independence Day! Family, friends, barbeques and fireworks are on today’s agenda for many of us. We want to make sure everyone stays safe, fireworks injuries lead to 8,000 emergency room visits a year. Dr. Martin Brown, Chief of Emergency Medicine at the Inova Alexandria Hospital, says all types of fireworks, even sparklers can cause serious burns, eye-related, and other injuries.   “Many people think that sparklers are harmless and they are often not as careful when using sparklers vs. other types of fireworks.”
