Weight Loss Patient Success Story: Traci

Enjoying retirement wasn’t going to be possible with Traci’s current health.  She had hyperlipidemia and high blood pressure.  Traci also had a strong family history of coronary artery disease, which added to the concerns that weighed on her mind.

Traci struggled with her weight her entire life.  She was always a bit overweight in high school and college, and then Traci found that her weight kept increasing throughout her adult years.  Three years ago, Traci had an epiphany: she knew something needed to change if she was going to be around long enough to plan retirement.

At 260 pounds, Traci began her journey to a healthier, more active lifestyle with Dr. Nain, one of our surgeons at Inova Bariatric Surgery. Traci underwent a laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy eight months ago, and to date has lost over 95 pounds!

Traci reports now that she has much more stamina and energy. She is very pleased to discover she doesn’t get winded as she had before weight loss surgery.  She’s delighted by her new look and the fact that she can now wear a size 10. She reports that she misses virtually nothing since weight loss surgery.

Traci states: “I’ve pretty much left my old life behind.  I retired the week before I had surgery, then we sold the house and bought a motor home and have been living the life of fulltime RV-ers since November!”

Today, Traci is enjoying being active and in retirement. Her weight loss has helped her enjoy her travels and adventures to places like Key West and Arizona and places in between. Traci is very pleased with her weight loss to date and her surgery — in her own words, she has left her old life behind!

Great job Traci!
